The review hits the nail on the head, in fact, I'd be concerned about anyone who agreed with McLaren on everything. I don't think Brian would agree with himself on everything! His position was clearly one of stimulating a reevaluation of one's beliefs, and he certainly did that. Like a seamstress taking up a hem, and readjusting the fabric, McLaren sets about to explore the soft underbelly of our faith. Loosening the underpinnings, he helps us to take a candid look at ourselves, and to rediscover the fragrance of the gospel. Honestly, while reading this I began to recall the vigor and beauty of my childhood faith, the things that I held so dear. Although I am still a long way off, I feel that God has used this book to soften my heart some, and to give me a fresh hope.
